When do I enroll an individual that receives disability payments
Are you unsure when a person with disability is eligible for Medicare If an individual receives Medicare due to a disability, they can join during the 7-month period that begins 3 months before their 25th month of entitlement to disability payments. This includes their 25th month, and ends 3 months after their 25th month of entitlement to disability payments. Once an individual is enrolled in Medicare and has Parts A and B, they can sign up for a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
When to enroll:
When will their Medicare Advantage coverage start
Their coverage will begin the first day of the month after they ask to join a plan. If they join during one of the 3 months before they first get Medicare, their coverage will begin the first day of their 25th month of entitlement to disability payments.
